Admin Toolbox… DameWare Mini Remote Control

As an addition to the Admin Toolbox series, I would like to introduce DameWare Mini Remote Control (DMRC).   This handy tool is one of the best tools I have found for secure remote contol of 32-bit Winddows Operating Systems.   It uses Microsoft’s native built-in security for authentication and takes advantage of the Microsoft CryptoAPIs to encrypt the communications between the host and client machines. 

Deployment to client operating systems is quick and easy but admininistrative privelidges are required.   Using the program’s console, you can connect to the client you want to remote control and install and start the service (no reboot required) and have access to the users desktop.   When you are done you even have the option to uninstall the client service (again, no reboot is required).  

As amazing as it may seem, it’s licencing is also one of it’s best features.   It is licensed by user for the administrative console.   Each user may connect to as many machines as they would like under this license.    At $89 this product is a deal and a must have for any administrator’s bag of tricks.
